Asian Heritage


Celebrating Asian Heritage Month

To celebrate ASIAN HERITAGE MONTH, the Club is headed to SAPPARI JAPANESE STEAK/SEAFOOD HOUSE AND SUSHI BAR to enjoy Asian cuisine for lunch and will visit CAROLINA PREMIUM OUTLETS in Smithfield for a shopping spree.

The field trip will take place on SUNDAY , APR 17th. We will be leaving campus at 9:00am and will return at approximately at 9:30pm. Students will be provided bus transportation to Greenville and Smithfield and back to Mattamuskeet campus. Students are responsible for their own transportation home that night. There is a $20 trip fee for club members to go on this trip.

However, your child will need money for his/her dinner and any purchase she/he wishes to make at the outlets. Students are expected to adhere to the school dress code policy. Please return the permission slip to a club advisor no later than Wednesday, April 13th. It can be accessed at the bottom of this webpage
Irish Heritage Month


Time for a Parade to Celebrate Irish Heritage Month
Sunday, March 13th

To celebrate IRISH HERITAGE MONTH, the club will be sponsoring a trip to the 27th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade sponsored Kelly’s Outer Banks Restaurant and Tavern in Nags Head, NC. The parade has grown to include over one-hundred entrants and is watched by over eight thousand attendees thus making it the largest St. Patrick’s Parade in North Carolina! After that, we will make a stop at Outer Banks Gearworks Laser Tag and Fun Center to enjoy a laser tag game and dinner before heading back home.

The field trip will take place on SUNDAY, MAR 13th. We will be leaving campus at 9:00am and will return at approximately at 8:00pm. Students will be provided bus transportation to Nags Head, NC and back to Mattamuskeet campus. Students are responsible for their own transportation to/from home that day. There is a $15 trip fee for club members. This fee will cover the expenses for one laser tag game and pizza and drinks for dinner at the fun center. However, your child will need extra money for his/her breakfast, any souvenirs at the parade, and any additional purchases made at the fun center.

Please return permission slip and trip fee ($15) to club advisor no later than next Wednesday, March 9th. You can find the permission slip at the bottom of this webpage, in the school cafeteria or through the club advisors.
Celebrating African American Heritage Month

Celebrating African American Heritage Month
January 30, 2016

To celebrate AFRICAN AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH, the club will be sponsoring a trip to the 15th African American Cultural Celebration at the Museum of History in Raleigh, NC. They will be exposed to over 75 musicians, story tellers, dancers, authors, artists, chefs, and more. This festival is sponsored by PNC, Raleigh Arts Commission, United Arts Council, NC African American Heritage Commission, NC Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, NC Writers’ Network, and the Museum of History Associates. After that, we will make a stop at Crabtree Valley Mall for a brief shopping spree before heading back home.

The field trip will take place on SATURDAY, JAN 30th. We will be leaving campus at 7:00am and will return at approximately at 10:00pm. Students will be provided bus transportation to Raleigh, NC and back to Mattamuskeet campus. Students are responsible for their own transportation home that night upon our return. There is NO cost for this field trip for club members. However, your child will need money for his/her three meals of the day, any souvenirs at the festival, and any purchases made at the mall. Christmas Around the World!


Christmas Town at Busch Gardens
Dec 4th, 2015

To celebrate CHRISTMAS AROUND THE WORLD, the Club and Senior Class are going on a field trip to BUSCH GARDENS in Williamsburg, Virginia to enjoy their CHRISTMAS TOWN production. They will have an opportunity to learn how this season was celebrated in Old Europe as more than 12 European countries are represented all around the park.

The field trip will take place on FRIDAY, DEC 04th. We will be leaving campus at 2:40pm when the regular school day ends and will return at approximately at 2:00am on Saturday. Students will be provided bus transportation to Williamsburg, VA and back to Mattamuskeet campus. Students are responsible for their own transportation home that night upon our return. The cost of the field trip for club members & seniors is $42.00. This trip fee also includes a Platinum Meal Certificate. Your child will use this ticket to have dinner at the park. It is redeemable at any restaurant for any entrée and any two items from a selection of side salads, side dishes, or desserts and a regular sized non-alcoholic beverage.

However, your child will need money for his/her snacks on the way there, at the park, and back, and to purchase any souvenirs. Students are expected to adhere to the school dress code policy. Please remember that the park is outdoors and your child needs to wear appropriate winter attire. The deadline to sign up is Wednesday, December 2nd or when the activity buses are filled to capacity. Native American & Hispanic Heritage Month
To celebrate Native American and Hispanic Heritage Month, the Club is going on a field trip to FRISCO NATIVE AMERICAN MUSEUM AND NATURAL HISTORY CENTER to learn about their history and contributions to Eastern North Carolina and afterwards to LA FOGATA’S MEXICAN RESTAURANT to enjoy some Latino cuisine for an early dinner before heading back home.

The field trip will take place on Wednesday, Nov 11th. We will be leaving campus promptly at 09:00am and will return at approximately at 7:00pm that night. The students will be provided bus transportation to Frisco-Nags Head and back to Mattamuskeet campus. Students are responsible for their own transportation to/from school since our campus will be closed due to a holiday. The cost of the field trip for club members is $5.00. However, your child will need money for his/her breakfast and lunch. Please return permission slip along with fees to a club advisor no later than Monday, Nov 09th.
Italian Heritage Month

Celebrate Italian Heritage Month with Us!
To start the school year commemorating Italian Heritage Month, the Club is going on a field trip to THE OLIVE GARDEN RESTAURANT to enjoy some Italian cuisine for lunch. After that, we will make a stop at the AMF East Carolina Lanes for some fun before heading back home.

The field trip will take place on Saturday, Oct 17th. We will be leaving campus promptly at 10:00am and will return at approximately at 6:00pm that night. The students will be provided bus transportation to Greenville and back to Mattamuskeet campus. Students are responsible for their own transportation to/from school. The cost of the field trip for club members is $15.00. However, your child will need money for his/her lunch at the restaurant ($25 at least – each student will order off the menu) and snacks for the way back home that day. You can find the permission slip at the bottom of this page and the deadline to sign up is Friday, October 16th. You must be a member this year to be eligible to attend.
Time to Join/Renew your Membership!
The 2015-2016 school year at Mattamuskeet Early College High School is starting next week and we are excited and looking forward to welcoming all of our current student club members and soon-to-be members back to school. We are planning field trip and activities for every month this school year. Remember that you need to renew your club membership every year. Club dues are $20 and the last day to join the club is October 23rd (Extended One More Week Due to Week-Long School Closing).
