Black History Month 02
Becoming Activists in our Black History Month Closure
Feb 14th, 2015
To end BLACK HISTORY MONTH celebration, the Club is once again choosing to do a service to our community and state by joining the thousands participating in the Historic Thousands on Jones Street’s People Assembly Coalition and Moral March sponsored by the NAACP in Raleigh, NC. As our African American ancestors became activists in their efforts to seek equality for all, there are currently other issues in our state that prevent us from that goal and we want our club members to do their part by supporting this peaceful march in Raleigh. We will also visit Crabtree Valley Mall for a brief shopping spree and lunch.
The field trip will take place on SATURDAY, FEB 14th. We will be leaving campus at 5:30am and will return at approximately at 6:00pm. Students will be provided bus transportation to Raleigh and back to Mattamuskeet campus. Students are responsible for their own transportation from/to school. There is NO fee for club members on this particular trip.
However, your child will need money for his/her three meals. Students are expected to adhere to the school dress code policy. Please remember that this is an outdoor event and your child needs to wear appropriate winter attire. The deadline to submit permission slips is Wednesday, February 11th. If you would like more information on this event, feel free to visit their website: http://www.hkonj.com/
You may access the permission slip at the bottom of this page
